The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has pledged the support of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for the Nigerian film industry popularly known as Nollywood. He stated this earlier today, 30 May 2024, when he played host to renowned Nollywood actor, Toyin Abraham, at his office. While expressing his admiration for Abraham's contributions to the Nigerian film industry, Air Marshal Abubakar also acknowledged the positive impact of Nollywood in showcasing Nigeria’s diverse and rich cultural heritage as well as its impact on international audiences. He then went on to highlight the importance of leveraging the influence and impact of Nollywood to foster a positive image of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) through showcasing its various achievements especially in the ongoing fight against all forms of criminality in the country. In closing, the CAS assured her of NAF’s support through the provision of equipment required to interpret movies that would be mutually beneficial.
Earlier, Toyin Abraham shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the role of storytelling in bridging gaps and fostering unity. She expressed her commitment to projects that would portray the NAF and indeed the AFN in a positive light, while also highlighting the bravery and dedication of its personnel. Specifically, our audience with the CAS was premise on her request for NAF equipment in shooting her upcoming movie, titled, ‘Alakada; Bad and Bougee.’7
Toyin Abraham, a prolific actor, producer and director, is renowned for her roles in various movies such as, “Celebrity Marriage”, “The Ghost and the Tout” and many others. She was accompanied on the visit by her manager, Mr Samuel Olatunji.
