1. Suleiman Kabir Usman was born on 24 August 1969 in Kano State to the family of late Abdullahi Usman and Habiba Usman of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano. He began his early education at Gwagwarwa Special Primary School, Kano in 1975 and completed at Amina L.E.A Primary School, Samaru Zaria in 1981. He then proceeded to the Government Day Secondary School, also in Samaru Zaria. Thereafter, Suleiman proceeded to the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna as a member of 39 Regular Combatant Course from 1987 to 1992. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and was commissioned into the Nigerian Air Force as a Pilot Officer on the 12 September 1992. On Commission, he was posted to the Communications and Electronics Maintenance Depot (CEMD), Shasha, Lagos as communications electronics engineer.
2. During the course of his career in the Nigerian Air Force, Suleiman Usman has served in many NAF units. He was OC Comms, CEMD Shasha from 1992 to 1995 and OC Comms NAF Detachment Lungi as part of ECOMOG Op from 1995 to 1996. He was the Head of Department (HOD) Computer Science Department at the then 332 TTG (Now AFIT), Kaduna from 1996 to 1998 before proceeding for ab-initio flying training at 401 FTS Kaduna from 1998 to 2001 and basic flying at 403 FTS Kano from 2001 to 2004. Usman also served as SO1 Trg & Eval and later as SO1 EE at HQ TC from 2005 to 2007 before he was seconded to the Presidential Implementation Committee on Maritime Safety and Security (PICOMSS) as UAV Pilot in 2008. Usman was for the United Nations Peace-keeping Mission in DRC (MONUC) as MILOB and Air Op Planning Officer from 2008 to 2009. He later became the Air Assistant to the Chief of Standards and Evaluation (AA-COSE) at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force from 2009 to 2011. He also served as Command Electronics Engineering Officer (CEEO) at Headquarters Logistics Command from 2013 to 2014 and CO EEW at 333 Log Gp Kaduna from 2014 to 2015. Suleiman Kabir Usman was posted to DHQ Garrison in 2015 where he served as the Garrison Logistics Officer (GLO). On Completion of his Defence College, Usman was appointed as the Commander of 141 Communications Group, Makurdi from August 2017, Commander, 351 Base Services Group, Minna in February 2018, Commander 455 Base Services Group, Kano in July 2019, Commander NAF Recruitment Centre Kaduna in January 2020, Director of Space Technology in September 2021, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Deputy Director of Personal Services in January 2023, Defence Headquarters, Nigerian Housing and Construction Company in June 2023, Nigerian Army Resource Center in August 2023 and currently the Chief of Communication Information Systems Headquarters Nigerian Air Force since September 2024.
3. Usman has attended his junior command and staff course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji in 2000 and senior command and staff course at the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, Germany from 2010 to 2012 and the prestigious National Defence College, Nigeria as a member of the NDC Course 25. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from NDA, Masters of International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and has completed his course in MPhil Security and Strategic Studies also in NDA. He is presently undergoing a PhD programme in Security and Strategic Studies at Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna. His decorations include MSS, FSS, psc, fdc, MIAD MNIM MPhil. He is married to Maryam Usman and blessed with 3 Children. His hobbies include chess game, reading, peace-keeping, music and sight-seeing. He also loves dancing and making friends. Usman is versatile with languages and speaks Hausa, Yoruba, Kriyo, English, German Deutsch and French respectively
